The Return of Galen Sword

The Chronicles of Galen Sword, Book Two

NIGHTFEEDER

Judith & Garfield
Reeves-Stevens

There is another world.
It is the birthplace of all out nightmares. Vampires, werewolves, demons, deadly creatures that have no name or form ... they are all real.

Galen Sword was born within that world.
Destined to be adept warrior, heir to the Victor of the Greater Clan Pendragon. Yet as a child, his birthright and his memories were stolen from him, and he was exiled to a world without substance, without magic, without hope: our world.

But 20 years later a mysterious chain of events restores Galen's memory of who he is, and hints at what he might become. Now Galen will stop at nothing to find the truth -- and his home. But with no powers of his own, the only tools he can use are those of science.

The Chronicles of Galen Sword

Book I: Shifter

Book II: Nightfeeder
Galen and his team are caught up in the deadly politics of the First World as the Greater Clan Seyshen provokes a war between vampires and shapeshifters that's ready to explode into the streets of New York. (Revised and updated)

Book III: Dark Hunter

YOUR FEEDBACK:

*****Continued excellence
If you haven't read shifter - the first book in the series, have a look at that book first as these books can't really be read out of turn to gain the full enjoyment!

For those of you looking for a taste of the second book, it is truly excellent. Moving the story on from the second book was always going to be difficult to keep the edge and suspense that had domindated the first. Remarkably they have succeeded. Other main characters in the book are filled out as the story progresses which gives a nice development to the characters, whilst the plotline reveals even more of this mysterious world that Galen is attempting to rejoin. New races and Clans with new charcters and old mixing well throughout the book i think this book actually beats the first in terms of readability.

I finished wanting more and now 10 years later, book 3 has been released (hopefully any future books will not take so long... hint, hint) - it's been a long wait but this is one of those series that seems to be worth it!

*****Curious beyond belief
I first bought this book in 1992 along with the first Galen Sword book (Shifter). I personally love the book and have read it and reread it numerous times. And, like a few others that have posted, I have lent the book out to others, and all who have read the books have been beside themselves with admiration for what was written and those who wrote it. So, you can see how sad it is when I have to tell them there was no third book written, eventhough there was obviously a third book in the series.

So I ask simply. Is there a third book? If not published, is there a way to get a copy of the third book? Or at the very least, can someone tell me what is in Australia?

By the way, if you could not guess. I very much enjoyed the books, and found the authors unique vision of the supernatural to be completely entrancing.

The start of something very good
Nightfeeder is an excellent continuation of the Chronicles of Galen Sword. I can certainly relate with the reviewer in NZ. I found the first book (Shifter) fairly soon after it came out. It took 6 years and one of my favourite bookshops (Bookworm in Kingslynn Norfolk UK) to get Nightfeeder. It is a compliment to the authors that I remembered reading Shifter and bought the second book. As an avid roleplayer (sad I know) I have based a whole world around this genre. Excellent and I look forward to may and at last getting my hands on the 3rd volume. My comment would be to the Reeves-Stevens combo is continue. Maybe this will be the next great dark fantasy series, because it certainly has the potential.

Why stop when I'm having fun?
There are only about a dozen books I will happily re-read again and again. This is one of them. ...

Every Great Thing Deserves an Even Greater End
I had searched for 2 years for the Nightfeeder volume and eventually found it in a Bookstore in Portland, OR. I live in Auckland New Zealand. So you can see that this book has really captured my imagination with it's great characters and excellent plot lines. If it is any incentive to the Author's this is mondo Blockbuster movie material, in the same vein as Terminator and Blade. Even moreso as it has better developed characters and more intriguing entities, such as near invincible vampires and bad ass arkady shifters, who take all shapes. You mustn't forget the elemental creatures like the Lights and wizards, need I say more. ...

*** Enjoyable, with characters you want to meet again
If you enjoyed SHIFTER, chances are you'll like NIGHTFEEDER too. Galen continues his quest for a way into the First World and meets up with some new, and even more dangerous characters along the way. The baddies from the first book also return.

*****ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT
This is a true shame. Nightfeeder came out more than 2 years ago and they NEVER followed up to my knowledge. It was a phenomenal book. It blew White Wolf's material away. Action, intrigue, plot (oh my gods, an action book with a good plot.. figure the odds). If the authors read this, CONCLUDE THE SERIES, PLEASE!!!!! I know 5 people who would buy the hardcover and I'd type the darn thing out for you just for the end of the story!! Thanks!

*****A Page Turner - Guaranteed!
I am very selective about the novels I read. This novel (and the first)grabbed my attention and held it until I had turned the last page. You could feel the strength, energy and emotions of each character. Not many authors have this ability to make an impact on the reader, but Judith Reeves-Stevens and Garfield Reeves-Stevens certainly did with these novels. A comparison to this novel, would be the series (Taltos) written by Steven Brust who blends fantasy and science fiction very well, and again, each character appears mysterious as the characters in the Galen Chronicles. Lastly, to echo the thoughts and muses of others - Here's hoping for the 3rd...

*****BADDEST FANTASY IN AND OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first novel got me hooked and the second strung me out. Now what you gonna do? I understand that money rules but can you help a sister out and please continue the saga of Galen Sword. It was so refreshing to find a world just not limited by your usual cliches. If there are other books, could someone please advise, so I can scoop them up. Waiting impatiently!!!!

*****Please write the next in the series!!!!!!!!
I agree with the other two reviews entirely. I am also awaiting with bated breath the third (and fourth?) book(s) in the series. The last line of this book is something like: "We have won the battle, now for the war to begin!" (Not an exact quote, but you get the idea!)
So, where is the next book? I hope they write it soon!

*****Loved it back in 1991; still waiting for the follow-up!
Really enjoyed the first two Galen Sword Books, and give it a "10" for the genre. Haven't read it since it first came out in 1991, and had stopped looking for the next one. The first two books created a well developed universe existing in tandem with our own, which slowly reveals itself through the eyes of the main character. I got caught up in the the hero journey, the slow maturation of Galen, and the seamless way in which the alternate fantasy universe was interwoven with our own, including the mix of science and "magic", combined with a gritty realism that heightened my empathy for the various characters. The authors wrote in their appendix that they had the whole plot line laid out, so am curious as to why they haven't published the next one. I know they've been writing a lot; horror, star-trek, other sf, but I got the impression the Galen Sword series was successful enough to warrant a concluding volume. Hope it comes out one of these days!

*****Original and highly entertaining
This book was extremely well-written and further developed a fascinating premise. It took familiar themes and concepts and did intriguing things with them. My only complaint is it left unanswered questions. What happened to the rest of the story? I'd love to find out the resolution.
