A specialty publisher with an edge, Babbage Press is owned by Arthur Byron Cover and Lydia C. Marano. Together they have over 50 years worth of professional experience in the world of writing, bookselling, publishing, and design.

Arthur Byron Cover, received a degree from Virginia Tech and made his first professional sale in 1971. His published works include novels, short stories, comic books, book reviews and essays on the sf field. He co-founded the Dangerous Visions Bookstore in Sherman Oaks, CA in 1981. A well-respected authority in the speculative fiction genre, Cover has acted as a consultant on genre films, co-hosted Hour 25 on Pacifica's KPFK, and taught writing at Clarion and The Learning Tree.

Lydia C. Marano holds a degree in photography and is a talented writer, designer, and artist. She managed the now legendary A Change of Hobbit from 1976 to 1981, when she left to open her own dream bookstore: Dangerous Visions. A fifteen year veteran of the animation industry, she has done development work and written numerous scripts for Sony, Marvel, Dreamworks, Disney -- including the critically acclaimed Gargoyles-- and others. Marano has published two young adult novels and a smattering of small press comics. Being a publishing "auteur" is the best job she's ever held. Although this photo is over 15 years old, Lydia still looks like this ... although only in her mind's eye.
