Arthur Byron Cover was born in 1950. He grew up in a small town in Virginia where there were no flying saucers, no Communists, and damn few Republicans, except for his parents. He took black and white television, manual typewriters, and transistor radios for granted, thinking them the apex of technology. He has never experienced the sublime pleasure of sitting in a Morris chair, though hes pretty sure he read about one in a book somewhere.
